How stupid does David Miliband think we are?

David Miliband gets 'winning a war' and 'winning a peace' confused
Yesterday at Labour's annual conference in Bournemouth, the foreign secretary David Miliband talked about winning the peace in Iraq. Did I miss something, because I don’t recall seeing an end to the war.

Just because the people killing our troops and innocent Iraqi civilians no longer wear uniforms doesn’t stop it being a war.

We sent our boys into Iraq masked by a smoke screen of half truths, erroneous assumptions and spin... why would we expect the way we withdraw them be any different?

When we withdraw, will we be leaving things better than when we found them in Iraq? I wonder how many returning troops would like to tell Gordon Brown to stick his 25% council tax discount somewhere dark and warm and instead be told the real reason they had to watch friends and comrades die.

Don't watch that... WATCH THIS!

Gordon Brown dressed as Tarzan doing an 'I hate Mugabe-ogram'
Gordon attempts to divert some of the attention that the whole Northern Rock affair is attracting by vilifying easy target Robert Mugabe; a national leader who makes anyone look like a paragon of financial acumen by comparison.

The Northern Rock Crisis won't flush away

Gordon Brown tries to flush the Northern Rock crisis but it won't go
Gordon Brown tries to flush the Northern Rock crisis but every time we're told its gone, it just keeps coming back. What's more, there's other stuff that's floating to the surface that doesn't smell too good either.

Introducing 'Rue Britannia'

Rue Britannia despairs over the 'Blame Game' following the death of Rhys Jones
In this age of consensus politics, enlightenment, post feminism and confusion over our national and cultural identity, I thought I’d start throwing pebbles down the well and see if anyone’s interested.Click here to see larger

It’s something I’ve always intended to do but never got around to, but now I’m actually doing something about it. I was a fan of Varoomshka by John Kent in the Guardian back in the 70s and this is something of a tribute to him too. I’m at the stage where I’ve
  • Developed the character (I’ve made her mixed race to reflect the UK’s diversity)
  • Put her in her first situation
  • Bought the domain and hosting (com and .co.uk)
  • Scribbled layouts for the website (2nd on the ‘to do’ after next piece)
It’s my intention to do others, so any feedback or suggestions as to what I should do with her are appreciated.
